Thanks for the article. It sounds like you know your espresso well, but I want more details on how to prepare the perfect espresso. What should I look for in a blend? Should I buy single variety beans and blend myself? What's the proper grind? How do I get the ideal extraction? I'm terribly disappointed with espresso in America. It's so much better in Italy and I want to find that here... and if I can't find it, I'll create it.

Hello,

I am a potantial barista - currently training myself at home - and planning a visit to Italy for at 2-5th of June. Could you please help me to find an initial training in Italy (maybe the first phase of a true barista training).

Thank you,

Ömer

I am somewhat confused by this article. I work in England where 100% arabicas are by far the most "adored", mainly due to trend than knowledge as I always try to explain to my customers some robusta can be good, especially with 30cl of milk!!We call single origin those 1kg bags containing only 1 variety of beans, however a 100% arabica can be a "blend" too ie brazil-guatemala and costarica. Aplogies if I did sound pedantic in my comment, I was just looking to clarify. All the best!
